An A-Z of Middle-earth
A full alphabet illuminated with characters and locations from J.R.R. Tolkien’s ‘The Silmarillion’, ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’.
Each letter has been carved and printed by hand, before being risographed at The Holodeck in Birmingham for this run of A2 posters, which retain the unique textures found in the original linocuts.
Because risograph machines only print up to size A3, each poster has been folded in half and fed through individually. As a result the posters have a horizontal crease across the middle.
For framing, I’d recommend cropping a couple of millimetres off the top of the poster to even the composition. Alternatively, ask your framer to do this using a mount, as illustrated here.
Original risograph print on 150gsm elven-grey discontinued colourplan stock from G. F. Smith Papers.
Open edition, embossed with the Ox of St. Luke.
Unframed, 420 x 594 mm
